v intriguing... had a chat with a friend who asked me - "is it possible to get bored of close friends?"
i couldn't give a proper reply cos i was dotaing... but the thought intrigued me (so much that i'm blogging at even tho it's already 12). i guess i somehow know it somewhat but just couldn't fully grasp it. after letting my sis use the comp, i reflected it a bit more and maybe... gained some insight and inspiration even if it might not be the exact situation.
i guess if we remain within a clique for too long, we only ever get to express a certain side of ourselves. like all things, we begin with an image. a face of a die that we reveal. as the clique grows closer, people are more used to seeing that side of the die i.e. we get shackled by what others think we are like. it suddenly becomes more than just a 'who cares what they think', cos these others are close friends after all, aren't they?
but over time, we changes faces (bearing in mind that i'm not talking abt any form of hypocrisy here)... we get new interests, new ideas that lead to a formation of a new personality. but there's just so much inertia to change around us, cos of the myriad expectations that the clique unconsciously imposes on us. in a way, it is security cos each expectation prevents us from losing ourselves in some formless identity, but it also serves as a weighted chain for those who would be free to change.
do indivuals make up a clique, or does a clique make up the individual?
